Performance indicators
With every report, ClariLens produces three performance indicators: recommendations, suggested goals and ratings. They’re short, structured versions of the report you can use in feedback conversations and compare across observations.
Where to find them
- On the report page, from the Focus menu.
- In Observations History and on teacher details, with the three buttons next to each observation: ratings, recommendations and goals, from left to right.
Recommendations
A short recommendation for each observed rubric: a concrete next step the teacher can try in the coming lessons.
Suggested goals
Longer-term goals based on the observation, usually written as SMART goals with a date, a measurable outcome and a way to measure it. Use them as a starting point for goal-setting with the teacher.
Ratings
A rating for each rubric the report covers, grouped by domain. The same table appears wherever ClariLens shows an observation’s ratings.
Reading the ratings table
Point at or tab to a row to see what it means:
5/8 rated - 9/15 pts
| Component | Score | Rating | Level |
|---|---|---|---|
| Domain 1: Planning and Preparation | |||
| 1a Demonstrating Knowledge of Content and Pedagogy | 2 | Effective | |
| Domain 2: The Classroom Environment | |||
| 2a Creating an Environment of Respect and Rapport | N/E | ||
| Domain 3: Instruction | |||
| 3b Using Questioning and Discussion Techniques | 1 | Developing | |
The line above the table says 5 of the 8 selected rubrics were rated, earning 9 of a possible 15 points.
- Score
- The numeric value of the rating. Values and labels come from the framework’s rating scale.
- Rating and Level
- The rating label and a visual level indicator.
- N/E
- Not evidenced. The notes didn’t contain evidence for the rubric.
- Rated and points
- How many of the selected rubrics were rated, and the points earned out of the maximum possible for those rubrics.
The observation’s overall score, shown in lists, is the average across the rated rubrics. In the example from the screenshot, 9 points across 5 rated rubrics gives 1.8.
